Address, Phone and Email Fields

Feature Friday

Hi! This week we're going to be introducing three new field types, address, phone, and email. Historically, we've always had a main address, a main phone, and a main email on a form. Those still exist whenever you create a new form and they are considered the primary address, primary email, and the primary phone. But now, you can add additional addresses, phones, or emails to a form.

By default when adding an email, it does not receive a copy of a Thank You email except in the case of attendees, which we'll talk about. I can click Phone to add a phone and give it a name. It needs to be something different than Phone. For example, you could say Business Phone or whatever you would like and it would create that phone field.

You can also add them to attendee fields when you're working with events. These attendee fields have some additional features added.

If you make the name of the email field match "Email", which is the same as the primary email on the form, it will copy the registrant's email to the first attendee. If we look at this, I filled out "kevin@example.com" and the first attendee auto filled this in. I did not type this but it filled it in based upon the two fields having the same name. Same thing with the phone. If you add a phone field and you call it phone, which is the same as the primary field on the form, it also copies the phone value from the registrant to the first attendee phone field only.

The additional attendees don't get auto filled in. Finally, if you add an address field and you match the address field name from the main form, it gives you the option to record the address for this attendee and make it the same as the registrant's address. Checking that will copy this address information down into the attendee.

You also have a few configuration options with this form. If you're adding a new address to the attendee area, you can enable or disable being able to copy the registrant's address and as well as change the label that appears. With regard to email fields in attendees, you can also choose to send the email communication to each attendee. So, if this is checked and the attendee enters an email address, they will receive a copy of the Thank you email as well.

So, these are some new capabilities added to advancement form. If you have any questions, please reach out to support. Thanks!
